Why Play at the
Dream Together Playground?
Playright Children’s Play Association (Playright)
believesthat play is a fundamental right of children, as stated in
Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the
Rights of the Child
:
We champion child-led play, where children take the lead.
With support from the Development Bureau, Harbourfront
Commission, We Can Dream Together Foundation, and the
Tsu Te Kian Charitable Trust, we established Hong Kong’s first
adventure playground at Hung Hom Urban Park—
the " Dream Together Playground " (also known as 1/2 Playground).
Here, children co-create the other half of the play space, fostering
creativity, autonomy, and an adventurous spirit.
Children’s Play at the
Dream Together Playground
Playright creates the first half, and leaves the remaining half to the children.
By using a variety of materials and tools to assemble, combine, add, or remove,
children take over to build and create a “1/2 Playground” of their own.
It is play for the sake of play, featuring:
Risk-taking
In this adventure playground, children take
risks and push boundaries.We celebrate
their every breakthrough – climbing higher,
tying things tighter,anything that marks
their stepping out of their comfort zone.
It’s all about growing courage, gaining
experience, and expanding knowledge.
Being Child-Led
Let children take the wheel! When children
are in charge of their own play, they
conceive ideas and make decisions that
might seem baffling or even "impossible"
to adults. However, since it is their play, we
believe in letting the masters of play have
the final say.
Ever-Changing
What you see now might look totally
different in the next moment. The
playground is always evolving — full of
surprises, choices, and endless
possibilities.
The Dream Together Playground is built on the vision of child-led play, featuring two distinct areas: the Public Open Space and the Charged Play Zone. Children are first introduced to unconventional play in our Public Open Space, sparking curiosity that leads them to the Charged Play Zone for a deeper, more immersive experience. In this unique playground, experienced and skilled Playworkers constantly assess and adapt the environment to support the play in real-time. By upholding the philosophy of “Playwork”, we ensure a professional, dynamic, safe, and exhilarating environment. Here, children can freely enjoy the thrills of adventurous play with peace of mind, paving a positive path towards happy and healthy growth.
Thoughtfully Designed Play Space Thoughtfully
Designed Play Space
The ½ Playground is a thoughtfully designed play space initiated by Playright.
Originally inspired by adventure playgrounds from the West, we further refined the concept with
professional input from Tokyo Play, a leading authority in Japan, and localized it to cater to
Hong Kong children’s needs. The result is a “half-and-half” playground which emphasizes three core
features — Risk Taking, Being Child-Led, and Ever-Changing.

Located within Hung Hom Urban Park, the Dream Together Playground spans
a total area of 2,200 square meters,
comprising two main zones: Public Open Space and Charged Play Zone.

Public Open Space:
Set within a nature-inspired playscape, this area features climbing structures and a gravel play zone. The fine gravel allows for a variety of creative play activities such as sifting, moving, stacking, burying, and digging, encouraging the public to invent their own ways to play. Additionally, unique rest and leisure facilities are provided for free and relaxed recreation.
Charged Play Zone:
Outdoor Adventure Zone - Covered with sand and soil to create a natural exploration environment, this zone is centered around a play foundation and a water play pool. Equipped with large-scale materials and construction tools, children can engage in adventurous climbing, creative building, and imaginative construction. The distinctive water pool encourages water-based play, while elements such as sand, mud, leaves, sunlight, and rain contribute to a rich, multi-sensory experience.

Indoor Play Zone - Comprising a central activity area, a Preschooler Area, and a multi-purpose support space, this area is suitable for hosting play workshops, experimental workshops, community play experiences, and training.
